NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN
Author Introduction: In these clips of the week I am mainly going to be sharing with you bits of stories that are from a fantasy world that I've had in my head since highschool. Eventually I would like to turn the clips into something, such as a cartoon, comic or a movie. When I write the clips it will be mainly to express a scene or a scenario, not a perfect piece of english mastery, so when I post it will generally be unedited, unfiltered. I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think! This piece is really rough and not a scene like Chapter #1 but rather a really rough character fleshing. I hope you find it interesting.
Platinum Arts Clip Of The Week #2 (Created 2/03/07):
Thrale didn't feel bad at all as he sliced through the peasants. He rather enjoyed it. No armor to dull or slow his blade. He could fully deliver the force of his blade and he loved it. The bodies effortlessly crumpled under him as he tore through the crowds of peasants. He felt he had no reason to feel bad. They were encroaching on his land, his territory. He was merely defending his land. A few thrusts, cleaves, and lunges and dozens more peasants lie behind him creating a path as he plunged forward. The awkward farming tools that the peasants employed as weapons might as well not have been there because they were useless against his pure speed and agility. Supporting him was a small battalion that consisted of both the dead and living. He had six that stayed close to him and served as his elite guard. Three of them were living, two males and a female. The male Orca was an expert tracker. On the field he employed an ancient golden blade and heavy shield. Mora was the medic of the group. His favorite weapon to use was a lance. Mariana was an expert archer. In her silver plate mail she loved to rain arrows upon the battlefield. The other three were once living, but now knights of the dead. One carried a thick axe and donned radiant silver armor. The other two preferred black armor. One used a long lance while the other used a long black two handed blade or a double sided axe, depending on his mood. The rest of the squad consisted of around thirty elite calvary, all living. The majority of the unit fought on horseback but Thrale was on foot. He loved to dismount and get into the fray. On horseback he didn't feel as satisfied. It wasn't enough of a challenge for him and not direct enough. He wanted to fully look his enemies in the eye and watch the life drain out of them as he sliced through them.
This is the fourth village he and his men had destroyed. Lately they had been encountering some heavily armored armies that had tried to stop them but Thrale eliminated them all. Sometimes Thrale was outnumbered by over four times the amount of troops but Thrale knew what he was doing. Part of the power of Thrale was that in battle he never lost his temper. Also he was patient. He knew how to successfully lead an ambush. He also loved to use the terrain against the enemy. There was hardly anything he loved more than a successful ambush. The pleasure of watching the fear and horror mixing in his enemies as he descended upon them was exhilarating. If Thrale did have it a weakness it was his own confidence in himself. His unmatched ability with his two handed silver sword also almost killed him several times. Sheer blood lust and overconfidence has sent him headlong into large groups of enemies on more than one occasion. Luckily his guard noticed and was able to come to his rescue. He never admitted being overwhelmed, but then against he has started to forget that he is still mortal. His silver blade had a small dull shine to it and was still faintly visible when the sword was covered in blood. He earned it as a gift from the Dead King. Across his back was his other hammer of destruction, his bow. The bow was was golden in color and very light yet powerful. Orca received the sword and Thrale the bow after they looted an ancient tomb. The tomb had been guarded by dead reanimated soldiers that aggressively attacked their band. They fell easily from a distance however under Thrale's former thick black recurve, Mariana's bow and the other's crossbows. Thrale had used the design of the tomb against the soldiers so that they were forced to pour out in single file and be picked off one by one. Deep in the lowest chamber of the tomb they came across the chest that appeared to be ordinary outside, but contained the golden weapons within.
Many legendary knights had tried to kill Thrale. They all met their demise under him. Thrale was quite annoyed with the attempts on his life. It vexed him greatly that these so called do gooders kept invading the land. In the peasants now were moving closer to the territory of the Dead King. War bands were common to be found entering the land of the Dead King, trying to drive the Dead King and his people out. That is why Thrale felt no pity when slaughtering them. Even the women and children he felt no remorse in killing. They were in his land, his territory and they had no right to be there. If he failed in his slaughterings then his land would slowly be overrun and these outsiders pushed on. A band of nomads had once tried to settled down in his area. They had tried to ally with the neighboring cities in an effort to take down the Dead King. Thrale made it his mission to eliminate every member of the nomads. It was after completing the task that the Dead King showed him favor and gave him his silver sword. The Dead King certainly had his own powers but he preferred to lurk in the shadows and leave the fighting to his followers. Thrale and the Dead King both had in common that they were calculating and generally not risk takers. The Dead King wisely conserved his powers and was overconfident of his abilities, which made him even more powerful. Thrale had been a surprise to him as he had never seen a warrior with such strength, speed, blood lust and intelligence. Thrale operated with such precision and strategy, putting him in situations that gave him the advantage. His blood lust which normally he was able to keep in check being his ownly known weakness. The Dead King quickly realized this weakness and added his three dead soldiers to Thrale's guard. Orca, Mora, and Mariana had been followers of Thrale's before Thrale had entered the Decaying Lands and met the Dead King.
Interestingly enough Thrale had once served on the side that aimed to kill the Dead King. However Thrale had become discontent with lack of reward for his efforts and what he felt was disrespect from those higher than him in his order. They had failed to properly acknowledge key victories of his that could have destroyed them. The order called themselves the Order Of Light and pledged themselves to protect the surrounding lands from those of the Decaying Lands. They deemed Thrale too aggressive and bloodthirsty when it was he who had saved them. They also treated him with contempt and Thrale hated it. He decided to journey into the decaying lands to meet its lord and master and to make the ungrateful Order of Light pay for their lack of respect. The Dead King was at first extremely vexed with Thrale's presence, since Thrale had been the main thorn in his side for quite some time. The Dead King asked Thrale to eliminate the peasants as a test of his loyalty and Thrale gladly did so. When Thrale exterminated the nomads, and many of the Order Of Light who were trying to protect the nomads, the Dead King was convinced and was well pleased. From then on Thrale has been helping to wage war against the Order Of Light, and the forest men who are trying to protect the kingdoms that are near the Decaying Lands.
