This piece is quite a bit different from what I usually write but I think it worked out well. This is actually the second draft after I got some help with it. This was more of a writing exercise than anything else but I think it is an interesting start. Feedback as always is appreciated.
Violet looked at the clock and it was only 2:30. Oh God she thought, still another fifteen minutes. She thought she would go crazy if she had to listen to anymore about triangles. Her attention turned to the window where outside the sun reflected off the snow so brilliantly that it was tough to look at. She saw that the basketball court was empty and wished she was outside playing instead of listening to Mrs. Clayborn. Violet looked down at her homework and scowled at it. Her homework was covered with various hand drawn triangles. She started doodling various hearts and stars on her paper. When she was bored of that she started tapping the eraser of her pencil against her desk. “Violet, be quiet please!” said Mrs. Clayborn. Violet looked up and said “Sorry Mrs. Clayborn,” in a sarcastic tone. She looked at the clock again and it read 2:35. She wondered if time was moving slow on purpose to punish her. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the boy next to her picking his nose. As she watched him he seemed oblivious and continued his task with fierce dedication. “Find any treasure?” Violet whispered to him. “Nope,” the boy replied as he kept digging. Mrs. Clayborn turned from the chalkboard and said, “Jeremy that is disgusting, stop picking your nose!” “Sorry Mrs. Clayborn,” Jeremy responded in a flat tone. Then he frowned at Violet and whispered “Thanks for getting me in trouble.” Violet responded by putting her right palm in his face and turned her head away from him. Jeremy responded by wiping his digging finger on her hand. Violet screamed as loud as she could and flailed her hand wildly as if it had been on fire. Then Violet saw Mrs. Clayborn turn from the chalkboard. Mrs. Clayborn directed a finger at both Violet and Jeremy and had a look of extreme disapproval on her face. “Both of you to the principle’s office now!” boomed Mrs. Clayborn. Violet’s face wrinkled to form the pout that she had practiced for so many years. She then stood up out of her chair and walked down the hallway with Jeremy. Violet wondered if the day could get any worse.

Hey Brandi, thanks for reading it! I'm glad you enjoyed it, haha. It was mainly an exercise in writing for me but I think it was a nice little clip. That is actually the second draft and I might do a third because I want to work on showing not telling and active voice and with this nice short piece it is easier. Take care and feel free to post any of your writings. -mike
